Econometric Game 2006

The Econometric Game is a two-day event in which teams of students from several European universities will solve an econometric case made by independent professors. ABN AMRO is host and sponsor of the project. In the next years, VSAE aims to develop the Econometric Game into an European Championship for excellent students in Econometrics.

As for the 2006 edition, 15 teams from 9 different countries subscribed:

Belgium – Ghent University, University of Antwerp, Chech Republic – University of Prague, Denmark – University of Aarhus, University of Copenhagen, England – Oxford University, France – École Nationale de la Statistique et de l'Administration Économique (Paris), Germany – University of Bonn, Hungary – Corvinus University of Budapest, Netherlands – Erasmus University Rotterdam, Free University Amsterdam, Tilburg University, University of Amsterdam, University of Maastricht, Swiss – University of Geneva.

The programme for the two days will be as follows (subject to changes):

On the first day the students will be welcomed at the University of Amsterdam at around 10 am, whereafter professors will give lectures about the case. These presentations will provide the students with background information on the case which could be used to solve the case.

In the afternoon the students will go to the headquarters of ABN AMRO to have lunch together. After lunch the students will start working on the case using econometric software packages. Dinner will be served in a restaurant in the centre of Amsterdam, after which we will enjoy a relaxing activity to allow the students to get to know each other better.

The second day the teams will be able to work on the case the entire day, at the end of which they will present their results to an expert jury. While the students enjoy a drink and dinner at the 23rd floor of the ABN AMRO Headquarters, the jury will judge the solutions and presentations. Around nine o’clock a winner will be announced.
