The Econometric Game is a two-day event where a number of teams from different universities will compete. The competition contains solving a case, made by a distinguished professor, with econometric methods.
The project is invented in 1998 by the study association that represents the students in econometrics at the university of Amsterdam (the VSAE) and is still organized by the VSAE every year. The Econometric Game started as a small competition between the ‘Free University’(Amsterdam) and the ‘University of Amsterdam’. Due to its success and the notion of the high potential of the game, it grew every year.
The first step was to expand the game nationally, this was successfully done and the project became an event where the six universities that teach econometrics in the Netherlands participated. After this step it became clear that there was also a lot of interest from universities in other countries. The project grew every year with the participation of foreign universities.
That brings us to the project of today, the eighth edition, which is made possible with the support and sponsoring of Watson Wyatt.
