As a Junior Portfolio Risk Manager you will be part of a team dedicated to investment risk management activities (2nd line of defence) in support of Aegon Asset Management’s portfolios. More specifically, you will work in the Portfolio Risk Management and Control (PRMC) department consisting of a team of 11 investment-focused risk professionals located in The Hague. You will be reporting to the head of PRMC. The team is relatively young, ambitious and organize regular social events outside of the workplace.
Together with another Portfolio Risk Manager you are responsible for compliance monitoring of all client and fund mandates that Aegon Asset Management manages. Using our risk management system you monitor all current mandates and the restrictions they operate within. In case any of the restrictions shows a breach, you ensure all relevant internal parties are notified. You continuously support the development of new mandates, in cooperation with the client, account management, and our product development team, and ensure correct implementation of the mandate in our risk management system. You send weekly reports on your findings to your internal stakeholders such as Account Management and Portfolio Managers. You also send monthly reports to the Risk Committee.
To succeed in this role you have excellent communication skills, know how to engage internal stakeholders and are very detail oriented. This a great junior role for someone who wants to learn everything about the investment industry and be able to communicate with multiple parties within Aegon Asset Management.


As a Junior Portfolio Risk Manager you have the following qualifications:

  • An academic degree in Finance or related to this field;
  • Clear affinity with investments, trading and the asset management industry;
  • Proven strong communication skills;
  • Fluent command of both the Dutch & English language.
